THE JUDGE ADVOCATE GENERAL COMMISSION
The Judge Advocate General Commission is a department of the Judicial Court and is comprised of six Judge Advocates General who are available to serve as counsel for those involved in appeals before the Court. Their responsibilities include performing discovery and research for cases, assisting parties throughout proceedings, and arguing cases before the Justices. Our Judge Advocates General are trained by the Court and are here to help students receive a fair hearing.
Jose Portela III
Chief Judge Advocate General
Jose Manuel Portela III is a Society Ethics and Law Major with a double Minor in Business and Philosophy from Dallas, Texas, and is a member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of ’24. Jose is a first-generation Aggie, and serves the school as a Judge Advocate General, Aggie Network Student Ambassador, member of the University Disciplinary Appeals Panel, and member of the Aggie Recruitment Committee. Jose plans to apply for law school and take the Lsat this coming Summer. After completing law school, Jose plans to work in the District of Columbia focusing on commercial litigation and corporate law.
Graysen Lewis
Judge Advocate General
Graysen is a Sociology major with a minor in Entrepreneurship, and a member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of ’26. With a deep-seated belief in justice and equality, Graysen is eager to use this position to foster these values at Texas A&M. Outside of the Judge Advocate General Commission he is also involved as a staff member in FLARE, a freshman leadership organization in the College of Arts and Sciences. After graduating from Texas A&M, Graysen plans to attend law school to pursue a career as an attorney.
